Jenny's Kitchen Tamarind Chutney 300ml

Popularly known as "Tamarind chutney with a cult following", one taste is all it takes to see why. These artisan condiments are still made the old-fashioned way in small batches. Each pot is hand stirred, each jar hand poured.

Jenny's Tamarind Chutney is a true anglo-indian chutney with an exquisite depth of flavour. It's sweetness balances the natural sourness of Tamarind. There is none of the vinegar taste that dominates so many chutneys, and it is beautifully spiced to create a full flavour with various options of  'hotness' to suit.

It is fabulous with cheeses, sandwiches, fish, meats or poultry. Serve it up over cream cheese as a dip, with poppadoms as part of an Indian meal, or use it as a base or topping sauce on a pizza.

Choose between:

  • Mild - An indulgent rich chutney with spicy sweetness
  • Medium - The Cuisine Artisan Award winning Tamarind Chutney. Perfectly balanced with gorgeous depth of flavour and a little warmth
  • Hot - All the flavour of the Award winning medium Tamarind chutney, but with a little extra warmth
  • Xtra Hot - All the same amazing depth of flavour, but with more heat. Don't worry! This is 'Kiwi-hot' and you will still have some taste buds left :)

Tamarind Trees grow in hot countries around the equator, and are common in Thai and Indian and Mexican cooking. They are a large tree with a woody lumpy pod that contains a brown fruit, which in some places is called an "Indian Date", Imli or Tamarindo. It is considered a 'fruit of the future' with a major part to play in reforestation plus providing shade, fruit, wood and income in many poorer communities globally.

The flavour of tamarind can be described as a cross between a date and lime. Weirdly delicious. And luckily it tastes much better than the fruit looks!
